Magigen T4 UvsY protein is a phage T4 recombination mediator protein, which plays a promoting role in the homologous recombination process.

T4 UvsY protein is critical for efficient homologous recombination in bacteriophage T4 and is the functional analog of the eukaryotic Rad52 protein.

During T4 homologous recombination, the UvsX recombinase has to compete with the prebound gp32 single-stranded binding protein for DNA-bindingsites.   UvsY stimulates this filament nucleation event, helps UvsX   to displace bound gp32 from ssDNA, and helps UvsX to bind to single stranded DNA.

UvsY protein   promotes the invasion of UvsX recombinase into ssDNA single strand binding protein complex, , resulting in the release of single strand binding protein, promoting the binding of UvsX to single strand DNA. In addition, according to the literature, the enzyme also has single stranded DNA binding activity.

● Application

Magigen UvsY protein is used for recombinase polymerase amplification, RPA. UvxY plays a key role in viral DNA synthesis by promoting enzymatic activities of UvsX recombinase, by promoting UvsX-ssDNA filament assembly, and by helping UvsX to displace bound gp32 from ssDNA.

● Storage solution: 20mM Tris HCl (pH7.9), 100mM NaCl, 0.5mM DTT, 1mM EDTA, 50% (v/v) glycerol

● Inactivation or inhibition: incubate at 65℃ for 20min.
